Falling for Yosemite

Yosemite in the fall in gorgeous! We visited the park a couple of weeks ago with some of our best friends. Besides our little family- Wade, Renee and their son Hunter, Skye, Kristin, Kristin C., and her boyfriend Ken all made the trip. We spent the day walking around looking at the falls which were still running and picnicing by the water. To end our day we visited the Ahwahnee Hotel and enjoyed Irish Coffees and Coffee Bailys before heading home for albondigas. We stayed at our Cabin in Mariposa making meals, enjoying some wine and playing games. The guys even built a bonfire outside in the rain while some of us made smores and others opted to stay inside with the babies. It's always a good time with this group because we're more than friends-we're family.

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Sam and I took Nathan to pick out his first pumpkin for Halloween, well actually we picked it out. We went to a local pumpkin patch and Nathan even rode around in a wagon as we looked at all the goods.

Nathan's First Visit to Disneyland

In October Nathan made his first trip to meet Mickey with Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa. We had a great time and Nathan was such a trooper. His first ride was Snow White, then Jungle Cruise, Pinnochio, and he slept through Peter Pan. Talking with Crush at Disneyland California seemed to be his favorite (probably because he doesn't get much T.V. with mommy). See you December Mickey!

Feeling a Little Under the Weather

Yes, it's true . . . Nathan is sick! Despite all my efforts to keep him from catching what I have he still fell sick. I have been battling a sinus infection for the last four days and as Nathan's primary caregiver (a.k.a Mommy), I guess it was just bound to happen. I am so sad for him. However, his spirits are still up and he is still laughing. we hope our little guy feels better soon.

Cooing and Rolling and Teething, Oh My

Yesterday Nathan turned 17 weeks! Where is the time going? We just love our little guy. Everyday he is trying new things, making new faces and noises. I think he likes the sound of his voice because he is talking from sun up to sun down . . . so it's a good thing that we like it too! This past Monday was a very big day for him, not only did his Daddy turn 27, but Nathan rolled over on his own for the first time! I hope my next birthday present is as awesome as Sam's.
Also in the last few weeks our little guy has begun teething as well. I know it seems a little early, right? He is a little drool machine and since he never took to a pacifier he prefers his fingers and fists instead.

So with all these little changes in a big world, some days are just a rougher than others!

Grandma & Grandpa's Prince

Both Grandma and Nathan are very lucky because they spend time together every day. He has become affectionatley known around our homes as 'The Prince' or more accurately 'Grandma's Prince.' Together they like spending their time going on walks, playing during tummy time, dancing, shopping and cuddling.

However every weekend Grandpa now makes the trip home to visit his 'Baby' as he likes to call him. The two of them together enjoy watching Jake and Joey and trying to see who can out talk who! It's still yet to be determined.

Also a big thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for watching our little guy so Mommy and Daddy could have a date night. Even though it was just a few hours (Nathan still hasn't taken to a bottle) it was much appreciated.

Another Anniversary, Another Member to the Family

This September Sam and I celebrated our third anniversary. So on our way back from a relaxing weekend in SLO we stopped by Villa Toscana, the winery where we married. The day was just as beautiful as it was 3 years before and the place was just as gorgeous. I could almost hear the string quartet playing again and all the voices of our loved ones supporting us on that day. Butterflies filled my stomach once again just as they had that day in 2005. How time flys.

So while during our visit it didn't appear that much had changed a lot did for us. We were there at the same steps we took our vows on only this time with our son! It was a wonderful moment and Sam and I were glad to be able to share such a special place with Nathan.

Nathan's First Haircut

I had always invisioned letting my child's hair just grow naturally and then later becoming a member of the secret mommy club where they wait until their children turn at least a year old before clipping those beautiful soft locks . . . blah blah blah. Well all that changed and Nathan had his first haircut at 11 weeks! Of course we made an event out of it. Jess a family friend of ours and my hairdresser did the honors at Metropolis Salon. Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and Auntie Renee were all present and so many flashes were going off it was as if Nathan had his own following of paparrazi. Afterwards we celebrated at Henry Salazar's, another hangout of ours. 3 Margaritas and 1 Milk, please!

Mr. Bear

Before I venture any further in my journey blogging, I must introduce you to Mr. Bear. He is a member of our family and Nathan's buddy. You have probably seen him in many of the photos before and I can guarantee that you will see him in many more to come. He and Nathan met the week Nathan was born and have been inseparable ever since. They spend almost every waking moment together and for sure every sleeping one too. Mr. Bear has stuck by Nathan through many naps, restless nights, tummy times, and unbearable car rides . . . no pun intended.

Ahh the SLO life . . .

With Sam at work, Nathan and I spend a lot of time with Grandma and usually that means a lot of time out and about. As everyone knows San Luis Obispo holds a very special place in our family's hearts we go as often as we can. Sadly it is sometimes without Sam and although we miss him dearly, we manage to have fun. Nathan texts him daily of course!

A new hangout for Grandma, Nathan and I has been Guiseppie's downtown. During our last visit the hostess commented on how much Nathan has grown and our waitress already knew our drink order! Think that's a sign that we eat there a little too often?

Then what would a trip to SLO be without making an appearance at Farmer's Market. Where else could I get my favorite sushi, yogurt and eclairs all in one place? Ok, so it may sound a little gross and I didn't even eat those combinations when I was pregnant, but I manage just fine thank you!

And although Nathan is not a big fan of the car seat, we also managed to make a stop in Santa Barbara so Nathan could finally meet his Auntie Skye. And we all know when Skye and I get together food is always involved so dinner was a must.

Future Mustangs?

Nathan was lucky enough to be born with a few friends of his own. During our trip to SLO the week after he was born he meet Cameron Kienow. Cameron was born in March and is the son of our great friends Ken and Courtney. I have known both of them since my very first week at Cal Poly and they have become family. Courtney was also a bridesmaid in our wedding as I was in theirs. Since then Nathan and Cameron have had many more visits together and their mommies too.

Two weeks later Nathan met Hunter Little. Hunter was born in May and is the son of our other great friends Wade and Renee. Renee was our roommate in college and a bridesmaid in our wedding. They too are family and we are so excited to sharing such a great milestone and miracle with such wonderful couples.

Do we have future Mustangs on our hands?

It's Been A While

So, as you can all see it has been a while since our last posting. Sam has been busy working by day and Daddy by night. So for now, I am going to take a shot at updating our blog. I plan to accomplish this foreign task when I put Nathan down for his naps and at bedtime, so we will see how this goes. Hopefully I will be better at it than I am about e-mailing pictures!

Good times in SLO

We returned tonight from our mini vacation in San Luis Obispo. We spent 3 nights and 4 days and had a wonderful time. We were originally going for just a few days but the 75 degrees there seemed much more appealing than the 105 degrees here at home. We got a chance to take Nathan to his first farmers market in SLO and although he couldn’t enjoy the food he enjoyed being pushed and carried around downtown. We were also able to take in concerts in the Plaza in downtown and we were able to learn even more that our son can sleep through almost anything. Our planned dip in the ocean came up just a little short as it was pretty cold but we still did get to go down and let him see the sand. Below are some pics from our trip.

Nathan even got a chance to meet some of our friends.

For a while now we’ve been working on our room at Drake in SLO but have been challenged on exactly what we wanted to do and the time to do it. Although we had always intended on completing the room prior to Nathan’s arrival we just never got around to it and it sat with paint samples on the wall and supplies all around the room. When we arrived Wednesday afternoon we were very surprised to find that Grandpa Allan and Grandma Joanie had taken the last few trips over to completely redo our room! We had no idea and were totally surprised. We felt like we were on “While you were out” or some home improvement show. We are so thankful and appreciative to them for all their hard work, we know it took a lot of time and love.

The Dr. & Pizzokie

Yesterday Nathan had his first follow up Dr.’s appointment and he was given a clean bill of health. He did however have to have his blood drawn at a lab to test a few things (all of which came back ok) but we almost had our own little blood bath between Ericka and the woman taking the blood. Let’s just say the woman was a little less than gentle and we all know Ericka! Fortunately cooler heads prevailed and although Ericka did share with the woman what she thought of her methods (anyone surprised) we got outta there before any catfights ensued.

Ericka also had a Dr.’s appointment and Dr. Mason said that she was doing just great.

After our long morning of Dr.’s visits we decided to head to our first restaurant family lunch! We chose to head to BJ’s in Fresno and had some great lunch specials. Although Nathan only had breast milk, mom and dad enjoyed a pizzokie for dessert. Our Tia Mona joined us for dessert and was able to see her little nephew. She’s due in October herself so she’s getting a chance to see what she’ll have in store for herself.

This morning we’re packing up the family (all 4 of us) and heading to the coast. Nathan is going to get to meet some of our good friends in SLO and maybe even head by and see the beach for the first time. Sam goes back to work next Tuesday so we are trying to get in some good quality time together as a family before he goes back. Upon our return we’ll be sure to post some pics our trip.

Nathan Samuel Ramirez

On Wednesday July 2nd, 2008 we added a little baby boy to our family. Nathan Samuel Ramirez came into this world at 10:40 am weighing in at 7lbs 11oz and standing (actually laying) in at 19 1/2 inches. He is an amazing little baby who we are in complete love with. We've been waiting for him for a long time and now that he's here we thank God for this blessing.

We recently purchased a new camera with the intent of taking pictures of his every waking moment ( and some sleeping ones too!) We've defintely gotten our money worth so far. Below are just a few of ours shots. More will be added as we go, enjoy.

The First Blog

This is the first blog that our family has created. With the arrival of our new son, Nathan, we find it neccesary to document every moment of his special life and get the chance to share it with all of you, our family and friends.

Stay tuned for the many posts to come!
