Cooing and Rolling and Teething, Oh My

Yesterday Nathan turned 17 weeks! Where is the time going? We just love our little guy. Everyday he is trying new things, making new faces and noises. I think he likes the sound of his voice because he is talking from sun up to sun down . . . so it's a good thing that we like it too! This past Monday was a very big day for him, not only did his Daddy turn 27, but Nathan rolled over on his own for the first time! I hope my next birthday present is as awesome as Sam's.
Also in the last few weeks our little guy has begun teething as well. I know it seems a little early, right? He is a little drool machine and since he never took to a pacifier he prefers his fingers and fists instead.

So with all these little changes in a big world, some days are just a rougher than others!

Grandma & Grandpa's Prince

Both Grandma and Nathan are very lucky because they spend time together every day. He has become affectionatley known around our homes as 'The Prince' or more accurately 'Grandma's Prince.' Together they like spending their time going on walks, playing during tummy time, dancing, shopping and cuddling.

However every weekend Grandpa now makes the trip home to visit his 'Baby' as he likes to call him. The two of them together enjoy watching Jake and Joey and trying to see who can out talk who! It's still yet to be determined.

Also a big thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for watching our little guy so Mommy and Daddy could have a date night. Even though it was just a few hours (Nathan still hasn't taken to a bottle) it was much appreciated.

Another Anniversary, Another Member to the Family

This September Sam and I celebrated our third anniversary. So on our way back from a relaxing weekend in SLO we stopped by Villa Toscana, the winery where we married. The day was just as beautiful as it was 3 years before and the place was just as gorgeous. I could almost hear the string quartet playing again and all the voices of our loved ones supporting us on that day. Butterflies filled my stomach once again just as they had that day in 2005. How time flys.

So while during our visit it didn't appear that much had changed a lot did for us. We were there at the same steps we took our vows on only this time with our son! It was a wonderful moment and Sam and I were glad to be able to share such a special place with Nathan.

Nathan's First Haircut

I had always invisioned letting my child's hair just grow naturally and then later becoming a member of the secret mommy club where they wait until their children turn at least a year old before clipping those beautiful soft locks . . . blah blah blah. Well all that changed and Nathan had his first haircut at 11 weeks! Of course we made an event out of it. Jess a family friend of ours and my hairdresser did the honors at Metropolis Salon. Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and Auntie Renee were all present and so many flashes were going off it was as if Nathan had his own following of paparrazi. Afterwards we celebrated at Henry Salazar's, another hangout of ours. 3 Margaritas and 1 Milk, please!

Mr. Bear

Before I venture any further in my journey blogging, I must introduce you to Mr. Bear. He is a member of our family and Nathan's buddy. You have probably seen him in many of the photos before and I can guarantee that you will see him in many more to come. He and Nathan met the week Nathan was born and have been inseparable ever since. They spend almost every waking moment together and for sure every sleeping one too. Mr. Bear has stuck by Nathan through many naps, restless nights, tummy times, and unbearable car rides . . . no pun intended.

Ahh the SLO life . . .

With Sam at work, Nathan and I spend a lot of time with Grandma and usually that means a lot of time out and about. As everyone knows San Luis Obispo holds a very special place in our family's hearts we go as often as we can. Sadly it is sometimes without Sam and although we miss him dearly, we manage to have fun. Nathan texts him daily of course!

A new hangout for Grandma, Nathan and I has been Guiseppie's downtown. During our last visit the hostess commented on how much Nathan has grown and our waitress already knew our drink order! Think that's a sign that we eat there a little too often?

Then what would a trip to SLO be without making an appearance at Farmer's Market. Where else could I get my favorite sushi, yogurt and eclairs all in one place? Ok, so it may sound a little gross and I didn't even eat those combinations when I was pregnant, but I manage just fine thank you!

And although Nathan is not a big fan of the car seat, we also managed to make a stop in Santa Barbara so Nathan could finally meet his Auntie Skye. And we all know when Skye and I get together food is always involved so dinner was a must.

Future Mustangs?

Nathan was lucky enough to be born with a few friends of his own. During our trip to SLO the week after he was born he meet Cameron Kienow. Cameron was born in March and is the son of our great friends Ken and Courtney. I have known both of them since my very first week at Cal Poly and they have become family. Courtney was also a bridesmaid in our wedding as I was in theirs. Since then Nathan and Cameron have had many more visits together and their mommies too.

Two weeks later Nathan met Hunter Little. Hunter was born in May and is the son of our other great friends Wade and Renee. Renee was our roommate in college and a bridesmaid in our wedding. They too are family and we are so excited to sharing such a great milestone and miracle with such wonderful couples.

Do we have future Mustangs on our hands?

It's Been A While

So, as you can all see it has been a while since our last posting. Sam has been busy working by day and Daddy by night. So for now, I am going to take a shot at updating our blog. I plan to accomplish this foreign task when I put Nathan down for his naps and at bedtime, so we will see how this goes. Hopefully I will be better at it than I am about e-mailing pictures!
